Lumi is a female that we bought in November 2013 from the Alka-Shan kennel. We wanted to have some more breeding-possibilities again and we’ve always loved the Alka-Shan dogs, so when we found out they would have puppy’s again, the decision was not difficult!

When Lumi was more then 2 months she came to us, first she has been inside the house for a couple of days to get by from the big move! After a long introduction she went in the big kennels with the other dogs, this went completely fine.

Just like most Alka-Shan dogs that we’ve so far, is also Lumi calm and a little bit shy. When she knows you and accepts you she is your best friend, but until then it’s best to just let her be, she will come to you when she’s ready for it.

When Lumi had her first nest she went from shy to afraid, why? We don’t know! With Claudia and Nanoek nothing is wrong, but with Richard and pretty much all other guys she’s really scared. Volunters and interns need around a month before they can pet her a little bit. But also with new people; when she knows you and accepts you, she will be your best friend!

She is a good worker, but she can be insecure and that takes her working skills down sometimes. She’s at her best in a team of Claudia, Nanoek or Sahin or in a team behind them, so she can follow somebody she knows.

Lumi may be weird sometimes, but she is still a very sweet and calm dog who just gets better every winter, as long as you give her time!
