Räv is an amazing cuddle lover, it doesn't matter what you're doing in the kennel; poop scooping, getting the foodbowls or to cuddle. Räv always has to stand against you so you can pet him. That's really in his litter; his brother and sister Ronan and Ripa do the same!
He is a bit more difficult in the team, until he found his live-partner Thunder... Here you can read the store about Räv & Thunder.
Räv used to be a wheeler (first dog after the sled, gives the most strength) next to his (blind) father Kane, who unfortunately died in September 2014. After this we did not know who to put next to Räv in the team, since he can be a bit difficult towards others!
Thunder was not a good working dog, at all. In the kennels she was afraid of everybody new, did not like other dogs so much and other dogs did not like her either. She just did not fit in. Of course we kept trying, because we saw the potential, we just had to find a way to get it out of her!
After we got Thunder fixed we decided to put her in a kennel with Räv, who is not fixed, so a good match! And they were and still are crazy with each other! Thunder is still careful with strangers but she is much better and she keeps getting better. First it took you 2 months before you could touch her, now it takes most people only 1 or 2 days!
So, what did we do...? We also put them in the team together! Just in the middle, as "fill-up" dogs with extra strength from Räv, and they were amazing! Thunder transformed into a hard working and motivated dog and Räv is now much more relaxed.
If that works so well, then let's be even more crazy, let's put them in lead! Only in a team behind the guide so Thunder will keep running forward and not turn around because she is afraid..... And yes, also this, they just did it! Keeping the speed, keeping the rest motivated and still pulling. After a couple of weeks we decided to try them in lead with a guest, behind another guest. Not really all that surprised anymore they even did that without any problem!
Okay, so they pull, they can keep speed, they're not afraid, let's just put them in lead with the guide! And, no wonder, they rocked it! When they left they did not really understand because they were so used to having another team in front of them, but as soon as they understood that they were the first team they went, and they just kept going until they were back. Even the commands were no problem for them.....
These 2 dogs have found each other and made each other even better!
